At Texas A&M University, Python has become an important part of the curriculum and enjoys strong faculty support and student interest.
There is no rule against food and drinks in the rooms (floors are tile). Breakfast, coffee, and snacks will be catered. For lunch, we'll walk to nearby restaurants.
There is of course quite a lot of things to eat, to see, and the usual college definition of 'entertainment', see StuffToDoNearby2011 for details.
If you're using a GPS for navigation, you can point it to the parking lot using the coordinates 30.619695,-96.337086.
Finding the Building and Parking
Parking is completely free on weekends; there is a large parking lot to the northeast of the HRBB building. The coordinates for the closest parking lot are: 30.619695,-96.337086.
If you're arriving on Fri to help out with preparations, use Parking Lot 51 (30.621313,-96.337792) which provides paid hourly visitor parking.
The rooms reserved will be the 144 seat auditorium, 3 smaller 30-40 seat break out rooms (for the sprints, etc), and then the 65 seat room which could be used as a separate vendor area. There are also some additional rooms tentatively available for open space meetings.
There is an online spreadsheet showing details about the rooms, but here is a quick summary:
Friday: 7pm-10pm: HRBB 104, 113, 124, 126
- Note from Jeremy: I don't have the Fall schedule for the classrooms yet, but the registrar is not supposed to schedule anything after 6:00 in our rooms. On top of that, we usually don't have late afternoon classes on Fridays. Most likely you'll be clear to get in earlier than that. I've set a calendar reminder to check on the scheduling that Monday and let you know.
Saturday: 8am-10pm: HRBB 104, 113, 124, 126
Sunday: 8am-10pm (Just In Case): HRBB 104, 113, 124, 126
We may also be able to use HRBB 115. It only holds 20, but should be fine for an open space room. It has no projectors but we plan to bring one for this room.
We also have conference rooms in HRBB 320, 501A, and 516. Most likely they are available. 129 is an office with two desks & chairs which also might be available. If needed, JeremyKelley can schedule those for as well.
Wifi will be free, but will require a reserved guest account. 175 accounts will be reserved ahead of the date so that they can be provided for individuals when checking in.
